You’ve probably heard, the COP21 will be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015. The COP21 is the 21th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015.
Before, during and after the conference, many events will be organized in Paris on the theme of ecology and climate change. Between concerts, exhibitions, theater performances and debates, here is a partial list of organized events, the opportunity to stay at the Hotel du Nord et de l’Est Place de la République to enjoy.
The COP21 starts at the Maison des Métallos
The Maison des Métallos always knows how to speak on societal issues. To better understand the conference, two shows are held :
- “Kyoto Forever 2“: Referring to the climate conference in Kyoto in 1997, a burlesque play about nine international players who have two hours to save the world from climate change. Several representations are available from 17 November to 6 December.
- “Sunamik Pigialik“: What to do? Inuit is a play that immerses us in the evolution of a polar bear and we questioned our ability to curb global warming. You can see this play from 19 to 22 November.
Several debates are organized with free entry, two yet to come: “The COP21 in all its forms – When art is interfering in the negotiations” Tuesday, November 10th at 7pm and “International Tribunal of the rights of nature” the 4 and 5 December (during the conference) from 9.30am to 6pm.
Located in the heart of Paris, the Hotel du Nord et de l’Est provides access to the Maison des Métallos in less than ten minutes.
Pathway to Paris
Le Trianon in Paris is organizing a concert-debate that will bring together many artists like Patti Smith and Thom Yorke, Friday, December 4th. Pathway to Paris comes to end a series of similar events that began in New York in September 2014 just after the March for Climate.
Note that all of the collected funds with ticket sales will be donated to the organization 350.org. Find more information on the Trianon website. You can get there from the hotel in just 15 minutes thanks to Veli’b station Place de la République.
The COP21 is invited to the House of Writers and Literature
La Maison des écrivains et de la littérature (The House of Writers and Literature) offers two events to provide a sensitive and nourished literature reflection on the topics discussed during the COP21.
The first is an exceptional festival “Literature, Contemporary Issues” on “How Earth? Say and write a world threatened”, from 4 to 8 November at the National Library of France (Bibliothèque nationale de France) and the House of World Cultures (Maison des Cultures du Monde).
The second, called “sensitive Parliament of Writers” will bring together 31 writers November 14, 2015, each read a speech showing their commitment to the climate in the National Assembly.
The Montsouris park at the time of COP21
Pedro Marzorati and his monumental installation, invites you to Montsouris Park from October 10 to December 15. A line of men sculpted busts emerges on the surface of the water: by looking more closely, we realize that men are sinking more and more into the water. This work that flirts with land art and offers a poetic vision and distress loaded announced to rising waters.
